The Georgia Department of Transportation advises motorists that Pierce Chapel Road at U.S. 27 will temporarily close for construction related to the ongoing U.S. 27 improvement project starting Monday, September 21. The expected closure will be in effect for two weeks, weather permitting.

Georgia law requires that all Annual Notice of Assessments that were returned by the postal service as undeliverable are posted on the County website.

The Columbus Consolidated Government’s Community Reinvestment Department will host two public meetings to discuss how federal funds were used during the past year to benefit the Columbus community through the HUD Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER).

City Officials will host a ‘Neighborhood Meeting’ on Tuesday, September 29^th at 5:00pm at Harvest Coffee on 2^nd Avenue as part of the ‘All Hands on Deck Campaign’ to clean up our neighborhoods and our city.  We must get a handle on the uncleanliness of our community, and it will take “all of our community leaders and residents to make this happen”. This is just the start of getting this done through collaboration and coordination. 

The Georgia Department of Transportation and Transportation Investment Act Program will host a Public Information Open House for proposed improvements to Williams Road (P.I. No. 0019520).

The open house will be held Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 5–7 p.m. at Northside Recreation Center, 2010 American Way. The public may attend at any time during the event. No formal presentation will be given.
