The Columbus Consolidated Government will hold a ceremony on Friday, November 13, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. to mark the renaming of the Boxwood Recreation Center as the Jerry “Pops” Barnes Recreation Center.

Columbus-Muscogee County Emergency Management and Homeland Security will join the Georgia Emergency Management Agency/HS and the National Weather Service in recognizing Thursday, November 4, as Georgia’s Fall Severe Weather Preparedness Day. This is a great opportunity for schools, businesses, and individuals to take part in a severe weather exercise/tornado drill around 9:30 a.m.
