US Highway 80 Overlay District

The US Highway 80 Overlay demands additional requirements for development along US Highway 80 from Warm Springs Road, east to the Talbot county line with a 1000-foot depth at each intersection. The purposes of this ordinance are to:

  • Improve and enhance the aesthetic qualities of development within the arterial road Corridor of US Highway 80 through the implementation of land use regulations, and within which amenity features are encouraged.
  • Manage the location and intensity of development within the arterial road corridor and to concentrate development in focus areas.
  • Ensure safe access by vehicles and pedestrians to destinations in the corridor in a manner that does not conflict with access to
individual developments or the roadway's primary purpose.

To create an overlay district the Planning Department must get approval from the Columbus City Council to alter the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO). Below is the Official Ordinance approved by City Council.
