WHY CHOOSE HWC?
Free Services – It doesn’t get any better than free and all HWC services will be free to all participating employees and dependents. This compares to a $20 primary care physician office visit copayment for the current plans and $30 for a specialist visit.
Lower Specialist Copays – Although the HWC medical staff will handle most of your needs, when you do need to see a specialist, the copayment is only $20 with a HWC referral.
Free Prescriptions – The HWC will dispense many generic and some brand prescriptions directly to patients. This can provide a big savings in both cash and time waiting in line at the pharmacy. Click here for a list of prescriptions offered at the Health & Wellness Center.
Lower Deductible – The HWC health plan will have a $100 deductible (individual), $200 (family maximum) compared to the $200/400 for HMP and $300/$600 for the current POS and PPO plans. Keep in mind that the HWC will also help employees and participating dependents avoid situations where the deductible is applicable. Stable Premiums – The initial Blue Cross Health Center plan premium is the same as the HMO and less than the POS and PPO plan rates. More importantly, the HWC premium is set for Fiscal Year 2014 and will not change even if the premiums for the other health plans do increase. Because each plan will be tracked and rated separately, we anticipate the HWC plan becoming the lowest cost plan in future years. Quick and Easy Appointments – A quick toll-free phone call will result in a time sensitive appointment tailored to meet the individual needs of each caller.
No Sick Leave charge for HWC Appointments – Because you won’t be spending a half-day at the doctor’s office, HWC appointments will not be charged to sick leave if you return to work promptly. The HWC will issue each employee a time-stamped return to work note. (Return to work note is not required if appointment is at end of work day.)
Convenient Hours- The HWC is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00am - 5:00pm, and on Tuesday and Thursday from 7:00am - 5:00pm.
Short Waiting Times – On most visits you may be the only patient in the waiting area. Because our HWC will not overbook the doctor’s time, patients will not only be seen promptly, but also for the full amount of time they deserve, based on each patient’s individual needs.
Personalized Care – Unlike many private medical practices, the HWC medical staff will have the time to provide a personalized care plan for each patient. Our goal is to help each patient to be healthier, happier, and more productive.
Urgent Care – During HWC hours, patients with urgent needs will be worked in, when the HWC is closed, regular Blue Cross benefits are available at a reduced copay of $20.
Discount Services – To save employees even more, HWC management will contract for discounted services with the best health care providers in the area.
